Gifts of Meaning
As you imagine gifts for your loved ones this year, may I offer a few suggestions? For starters, please don’t go into debt for gift-giving. Second, reach for quality over quantity. Third, think about gifts that will actually improve the lives of those you love. In that spirit, here are a few gift ideas that might make an enduring difference in someone’s life…some of which we might partner in together:
For Free
Give the gift of time. Instead of a product, consider an experience. Give a trip or an outing. Our “Christmas gift” to our kids this year is a trip to the beach this summer. Okay, that’s not free…but some gifts of time are completely free. My dad and I are taking a hike once a month this year—that’s free!

Almost Free
Give something you make, something you love. This year we are giving my parents a loaf of fresh parmesan bread every month. :)
inexpensive
Give someone you love a book that has left an enduring imprint on your life this year.
If unsure, browse among the dozen books I’ve written (or co-written) for something that strikes a chord.
